Why real estate?

Real estate to me means ownership and wealth building. I was 12 years old when I came to that conclusion. I grew up living in apartments, and always wondered how much money tenants spent in rent?

At the age of 18, I took the plunge to purchase my home in Katy, TX. Everyone questioned me, being so young and taking on a big responsibility. To me, I knew I would be fine and I was that responsible. I knew I would work hard to pay off my house or if anything happened I could sell. With this ownership my life changed, I became a homeowner!

This opened up a new chapter in my life. I studied the loan officer side of real estate, how to help people achieve to obtain a mortgage loan. I did this for a short period, I felt real estate was for big sharks.

At the age of 22, I went into property management. I started as a leasing consultant for 985 units. This property management company had just purchased a new portfolio of 11 apartment communities and were doing millions on renovations. With in 6 months, I moved to a smaller community to be leasing/ assistant manager. This community was so cute nestled in Cypress, TX 345 units. It had several long term tenants that had been there since the complex was built. I grew in love with this community to the point that I had it at 100% occupancy for 3 consecutive months, and delinquency was low/ to none. I shortly became a property manager of a smaller community, 185 units. This property was suffering when I got there and I slowly turned it around.

At the age of 27, I decided I would get my real estate license. After all my personal experience with real estate it made sense for me to become a Realtor. I love real estate! To me it’s not the money that drives me, it’s the experience I get out of every transaction and my clients. I like to build life time friends and help friends build wealth.
